Each of our 11 pigs were born on our Oklahoma Donkey Dairy, in the woods, to pedigreed heritage breed Tamworth parents (Toot and Puddle.) Everyone said that Puddle would roll on them and that they needed to be put in a crate. We didn't, she didn't, and they all survived and thrived. The piglets quickly decided they could go anywhere they wanted on our farm, running under the electric fence wire. When they got too big for that, and when momma Puddle was done with 11 annoying piglets, we moved them to their new home in the woods where they have enjoyed the sun, the woods, and organic grain supplemented with assorted fruits and veggies, etc. on a regular basis. Our pigs missed all their "well child" appointments, and never even got a cold requiring antibiotics. ;)

Brings back good memories

I was raised by farmers and my grandpa raised hogs for butcher. When I was young I didn’t know how much of a treat this was. It was all I knew. He retired in the early 80’s and we hadn’t had that excellent flavor experience again…until I bought a hog from the Traywick’s at Donkey Dairy. Immediately took me back to my childhood on the farm and the pricing was right where it should be. The butcher also did a great job of giving exactly what I asked for. I’ll certainly be buying another from them. Thank you, Traywicks!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad our pork was appreciated, it means so much to us! And I know with your culinary skills it went to the best possible use!! :) Probably served with a beautiful fresh loaf of sourdough bread and fresh eggs...for your lucky family of an Italian cook!!!
